"A very lost monk"In the center of a small room, Emery comes out of meditation and flops down, staring at the ceiling. The days she thought it would take to fix the portal home turned to weeks, and were now turning to months... exhausted, frustrated and badly missing her home she grinds her teeth realizing that if this was a test of her monkly patience, she has failed. She gets up at moves to the door that should be her portal to Cosrin, but on opening it sees nothing but wall behind it. Sighing unhappily she sinks to the floor and pouts, leaning against the broken portal. Suddenly there is a crack, a flash of light, and papers fill the room. Emery gathers them up, and begins to read. To her delight, they are messages posted on the public boards and the monks board... she reads quickly, desperate to find out how her friends and family are. Her smile turns to a frown as she reads of monks leaving, worry gnaws at her when she learns of disease and illness attacking Moorgate and tears start as she hears of Brother Kadfail's, and other innocents deaths. With a shocked expression on her face the papers slip from her hands and fall to the floor as she learns of Ghengis' death... the innocents killed by his hand, Tarantio's pain...
This can't be happening. It is not true. She sweeps up the papers into a pile, then places them into the fire and watches them burn with tears streaming down her face. She sits, wondering what is happening at home, how her brothers and sisters fare, and a panic begins to well up in her... What if it is true? She runs to the broken portal, sobbing, screaming, demanding to be let in, to be allowed to go home. She beats upon it with her fists until they are raw and bloody, then finally collapses into a shaking heap in front of it, wondering what will be left when she eventually returns... |
