Your quest begins in the town of Rim Elm. The Silent Protagonist walks out of his house and looks around the beautiful and cozy town.
Name Select Entering a name for your main character is not hard. Just put your cursor on what letters you want and click on select. If you want the original name just click on yes.
Vahn makes his way down to the Genesis Tree and meets with the Village Elder who begins talking about Vahn becoming a hunter. He will ask you if you were praying for a successful hunt. Which option you choose does not matter. The Elder talks on about you becoming a hunter. Now you can take control of Vahn. Walk up the stairs and Mei will walk out of her door and speak to you. She talks about the hunting clothes she is making for you.
If you want a special item later, choose, "Is something wrong?"
She has to check some of the measurements. She will ask if she can measure you one more time. Answer, "Sure, go ahead."
She thanks you and tells you that you are kind. She will be at your house, so don't be late, although there is no set time to be there. She smiles to you and walks away.
Now take control of Vahn again and talk to your neighbors and friends. Visit the large mansion on the right side of Rim Elm to discover a store thats out of business. Upstairs is a drawer that is locked. Come back later.
In the top-right corner of the town is the Village Elder's house. There is an old man there who can tell you about: the Seru, the Mist, and the wall that sorrounds Rim Elm. Futher back is a cupboard. Check it.

Now leave this house. Head for the beach which is on the southside of Rim Elm. A Monk named Tetsu will be there. If you like you can practice your fighting skills with him and learn a new art. He will help you to learn the basics of fighting. Don't worry about dieing, there is no way to in this battle. After you are done, walk up the stairs on the right side and enter the house that is straight ahead. Your father Val, your little sister Nene and Mei are all waiting for you. Nene asks Mei a disturbing question, "Mei, are you in love with my brother?"
Mei only responds with only silence and blushing. "I knew it!" Nene yells.
Then Vahn walks in and Mei ignores Nene. She begins to measure Vahn. She talks about how quickly you've grown. She finishes and leaves to make your hunting clothes.
Now talk control of Vahn. Check your cupboard for an item.
Healing Leaf - Recover 200HP. Ally.
By now you should have 6 Healing leaves. Now leave your house.
The Hunters suddenly arrive but not in good spirits. Everyone gathers around to see the hunters and what food they have brought back. But they are shocked to see that Mei's father, Juno, is dead.
Mei walks up to her father's carcas and begins to cry. "Father?"
A hunter replies to her, "I'm so sorry Mei."
"It happened so quickly......before we knew it."
"The Mist came earlier than usual..."
"Juno was attacked by the Seru monsters..."
"There wasn't anything we could do."
"Father..." "Father, wake up! Please,open your eyes!"
"Father!"
"No! Don't leave me all alone, Father. Please! Don't!"
"Oh, please..."
The focus turns to Val and Nene, they have an emotional talk about if they were ever to be free of the Mist.
Now back to Mei's house where Vahn has followed her to. Juno's body lay in her bed to be cleaned and put in a casket. The women now watching over her ask you to let her be alone and to not worry about her. How you answer does not affect your relationship with Mei. Return home and talk to Val. He will ask you if you want to rest. Say yes and go to sleep.
