Weapons
Characters who want to participate in the battle between Omni-Tek and the rebels should come well prepared. Your choice of weapons should be based on strategy, skills and who you will fight. Some people still prefer to use their own body (martial artists) and classic melee weapons. They are effective, silent and inexpensive. For the more advanced fighter there are also several hi-tech melee weapons, such as swords, that give energy jolts to the victim when they hit, or energy whips.
Ranged weapons can be classified into two main categories (although there will be some weapons that will not fit into this generalization): projectile weapons and energy weapons.
A projectile weapon uses some kind of material as ammunition. It can be the traditional bullet, or made of materials like water and Notum. The projectile weapon usually decides the range and firing rate, while the ammunition decides the damage and other effects. Several weapons can use more than one type of ammunition.
Energy weapons are based on another principle. The ammunition is the same for all kinds of weapons. Only the capacity and number of shots are different from clip to clip. The weapon 'shapes' the ammunition into a shot with a certain range, rate of fire, damage and effect. It is important to remember that the available armor will have different effect on different kinds of weapons. A couple of examples: An energy shield can stop a nano formula, but will have no effect on a bullet. Energy weapons burn through kevlar armors with no problem, but it stops most projectiles.
Omni-Tek has good, effective and cheap weapons available for their employees. They do continuous research on new weapons and mass-produce all the most popular types. The clans have fewer resources, although rumor has it they get support from other mega-corporations that aim to undermine Omni-Tek's dominance on Rubi-Ka. They also have several talented weapon-smith 'hackers'. New factories for weapons production have recently been started in Sparta and Athen.
