Bosk

A very large, long-horned animal similar to the Urth cow. The meat may be roasted or broiled, dried, stewed or served in various other ways. The skin of the animal is tanned and utilized in many fashions.

Cosian Wingfish

Called so for it's ability to "fly" above the waters of Thassa for short distances. Its liver is considered a delicacy.

Gant, Marsh

A long-legged marsh bird with a piping cry; similar to a curlew.

Gant, Jungle

A bird, related to the marsh gant, which inhabits the rainforests inland of Schendi.

Giani

A large mammal of solitary habits which inhabits the rainforests inland of Schendi.

Gim, horned

A small owl-like bird, about 4 ozs. in weight, which inhabits the forests of northern Gor.

Gim, lang

An insectivorous bird which inhabits the rainforests inland of Schendi.

Gim, yellow

A bird, related to the horned gim, which inhabits the rainforests inland of Schendi.

Gint -

A tiny (6") freshwater fish which inhabits the rivers of the rainforests inland of Schendi; it has bulbous eyes & flipper-like fins; is amphibious, having both lungs & gills; is capable of walking on its pectoral fins; often found in the company of tharlarion, feeding off the scraps of their kills.

Gint, giant

A large cousin of the gint found in western Gor, similar in appearance, but with a 4-spined dorsal fin; is also amphibious and capable of walking on its pectoral fins.

Hurt

A kangaroo-like animal whose wool is used for cloth.

Jard

A small, yellow-winged scavenger bird of the rainforest inland of Schendi.

Kaiila

These beasts stem from the desert regions of Gor, covered with soft fur and three sets of eyelids to protect against the desert storms. These viscious carnivores are greatly feared by some as they are swift and deadly killers, akin to the velociraptors of ancient Earth.

Larl

A large (7 ft. at shoulder) feline, tawny red or black in color, having a black mane; carnivorous; similar to a lion.

Lit, common

a bird found in the rainforests of the Schendi area.

Lit, crested

A bird found in the rainforests of the Schendi area.

Marsh Shark

A deadly fresh water hunter of the Gorean Marshes..similar in shape and temperment to the shark of earth.

Mindar

A short-winged, yellow & red bird of the rainforests inland of Schendi; with its sharp bill, it digs in the bark of flower trees for larvae & bugs.

Ost

A tiny snake, about 12" long, bright orange in color; its venom causes extremely painful death within seconds; the ost of the rainforests inland of Schendi are red with black stripes.

Parsit Fish

A silvery fish with brown stripes.

River Shark

A narrow, black, vicious, carnivorous fish with a triangular dorsal fin, which inhabits the rivers of Gor.

Salt Shark

A long-bodied (12' or more) carnivorous fish having gills situated under the jaw, several rows of triangular teeth, a sickle- like tail, and a sail-like dorsal fin; inhabits brine pits such as those of the Tahari.

Sleen

These are viscious hunting dogs as well as being phenominal trackers. They are 6 legged, furred and their sharp fangs carry a deadly poison. They live in packs, tended by their Masters so that a slave may not befriend the beats lest her Master require then to track her should she foolishly try and escape. There are 4 types of sleens:

Tabuk

A kind of antelope, being yellow in color and having a single horn. They have a sweet tasting meat.

Tarns

Enormous relatives of Earth's Golden eagle. Some have a 50' wing span..they are bred in 2 types...War Tarns- heavier but agile, trained to aid in battle...and Racing Tarns- slender, lighter birds bred for speed and endurance. Racing Tarns are also used by messengers to go from one city-state to another.

Tarsk

An animal akin to the Urth pig, having a bristly mane which runs down its spine to the base of the tail.

Thalarion

Heavy, but swift these beast range nearly 40 hands in height, warm blooded reptiles, used in battle as shock troops, and a smaller bred cousin as draft animals on Gor. The Marsh Thalarion is not domesticated, but a vicious and voracious hunter.

Tumit

A large flightless bird, about the size of an ostrich, having an 18'-long hooked beak; carnivorous.

Urts

A reptilian rat, the approximate size of a terrier, it has three rows of teeth, two tusks, and two horns.

Vart

A blind, bat-like flying rodent, about the size of a small dog

Verr

A mountain goat indigenous to the Voltai Mountains; wild, agile, ill-tempered, with long hair and spiraling horns; source of a form of wool; it milk is potable, as well as being used for cheese

Vosk Sorp

A giant clam that lives in the seas and marshes of Gor. The shell is large enough to be used as a throne.

Vulo

A tawny-colored bird, similar to a pigeon, which also exists in the wild. The bird is used for meat and eggs. It is served roasted or baked in spices.

Zad

A large, broad-winged, black-&- white bird with a long, narrow, yellowish, hooked beak, found in the Tahari; they scavenge on carrion; similar to the Earth vulture

Zadit

A small, tawny-feathered, sharp- billed bird of the Tahari; insectivorous, feeding on sand flies and other similar insects; they often land a kaiila and spend long periods hunting the sand flies that infest the host animal

Zeder

A small, sleen-like, carnivorous mammal which inhabits the rainforests inland of Schendi, esp. along the Ua River; grows to c. 2' and weighs 8-10 lbs; is diurnal, can swim very well, and builds a stick and mud nest in the branches of trees.
