VAMPIRE HISTORY

_______________________________________________________________

This is the history of vampire socity in a very condensed form. Its for interests sake only and will most likely have no affect on the game.

_______________________________________________________________

VTM legend centers around a fictional scripture known as The Book of Nod,  To all intents and purposes you may consider it to be a vampire’s
version of the Bible. I wouldn't recommend you read it all because you will probably end up in the land of nod yourself if you try.

Here is the concise version anyway....

According to the ancient texts the first Vampire was Caine, Abel’s brother and the world’s first murderer. The scriptures say that when God saw
Caine’s crime, he threw him out of Eden to a place called the Land of Nod, nobody is exactly sure where this place was or is but I don't suppose it
was any holiday camp. The only mortal to accept naughty Caine in this new place was equally naughty Lillith, who was the first wife of Adam,
and Eve’s evil predecessor. After this Caine was visited by The archangels, Michael, Gabriel and Uriel. The angels each told Caine that all he
needed do was to seek God’s forgiveness to end his plight. Caine refused each time the angels visited him and was little by little cursed. In this
way he became the world’s first Vampire.
Lillith was a witch and she taught Caine some very special abilities to help him survive. Today we call these abilities “Disciplines”.Caine finally
left Lillith when she began to bore him.

For a while, Caine wandered around in the wilderness, the details of this are vague- until he found a place where mortals lived. Here he founded
the The First City.
The mortals were astounded by Caine’s disciplines, and they made him their king. Although again the scriptures are vague it is generally
accepted that his city was probably no more than a couple of mud huts and fences. For a time Caine was happy with this arrangement- until one
day the loneness of his cursed life caused him to become miserable. This was the reason that the created his first three descendants- and to this
day, solitude remains the most common reason for Embrace (the act of making a mortal into a vampire)

Caine was warned by God not to embrace anyone else- and it was fortold that eventually all of his descendants would eventually destroy one
another. He apparently ignored this such was the vastness of his misery
The first three were named Enoch, Zillah and Irad and had cities named after them. These were the second generation, and Caine’s direct
descendants. All would have remained fine  and dandy at this but the three too became lonely, and begat children of their own. They Embraced
withoutany reason on a whim and Enoch became overrun. At that time, vampires and human co-existed, with humans serving the stronger and
more dominant people of Caine.
Finally a great flood came upon the world, (Noah’s flood) this killed the majority of humans and also many of the weaker and younger vampires.

Caine destested his grandchilder and he hid away from them. He thought that the flood was another punishment from God for having Embraced
them in the first place. So he went missing again- this time not wishing to be found.
While Caine was away something ghastly happened.
The third generation, his grandchilder rose up against the three of the second generation and murdered the lot of them
It was in this manner that the Third Generation gained rule in the Second City, (the mighty tome tells us we now call this generation the
Antediluvians- because they survived the flood).
At this time the Antediluvians bickered and squabbled amongst their ranks- setting their children against one another in a for want of a better
word- very “human” way.
This quarrel marked the beginnings of the Jyhad. Some belive that the Jyhad was Uriel’s curse to Caine from God- others just think it was a
quarrel between two vampires that went out of all control. By the by, this is how it began.
Although Caine was out of sight he still took an interest in his progeny. Legend has it that he cursed the clan Nosferatu to be hideously ugly
and of course the Malkavians to insanity for defiling an image of him. He mourned the loss of the second generation and blamed the
Antediluvians for their demise.
With the Jyhad begun the vampires now seemingly had something to fight and squabble about for the next two thousand years.
