LARP is hard to describe to someone who's never played... and if you don't role-play, it's even more difficult. I think the best way I've thought of the describe it is a role-playing game crossed with improv, but there's no audience.
If anyone is wondering about the pretty black rose... chances are you've never played Vampire the Masquerade. The black rose is the Clan symbol for the Toreador. A friend of mine actually made this pic, and it's called, appropriately enough, Black Rose Immortal. *grins* I promised I'd credit him, so thanks muchly Christopher!
For anyone who is curious about the character I play in Waterloo By Night, here ya go! And this is all out of character!! It says so right here, so no using anything here in character! (For non-gamers, don't worry about it) Sara Manoro was born in Sudbury, Ontario in 1872. She grew up fairly poor, with several younger siblings. In 1893, on the first of May, she was Embraced. She had turned 20 the previous winter, and often sang in her church choir. It was there that Catherine Burke heard Sara singing for the first time, and rather quickly decided to give her the gift of immortality. She spent many years with her sire, learning the tricks of the trade, and spent several decades wandering from city to city, stopping only for a few months in any one place. She visited her sire in Paris for several years, brushing up on her social and political skills. She arrived in Waterloo, Ontario in October 1999. She stayed mostly in the background for the first year of her stay in Waterloo, watching carefully the lines of power and control in the domain. While in Waterloo, she met and fell in love with Sascha Pietrovich, another of her clan. They became bound to each other, and his eventual death nearly cost Sara her sanity. For several months she remained listless and almost broken, though anger and regret continued to burn in her. She recovered eventually, but has taken Sascha's last name as a symbol of what was lost. Shortly thereafter Sara was chosen as Primogen of her clan, and then was moved to the duties of Keeper of Elysium. She had a fairly no-nonsense outlook of her position, but then romantic entanglements got in the way again. About a year and a half ago, Sara started spending a lot of time with a Brujah named Travis Raine. He seemed to be completely different from Sascha, and Sara fell, hard. Then Travis was banished from the city. Sara left with him, and stayed away for a year. Travis however, became more and more obsessed with what he viewed as a wrongful expulsion, and returned despite the banishment. Things went from bad to worse, and he ended up hunted. Sara was furious with him, since they could have made a home anywhere, and she left him, and went to visit her sire in Paris again, trying to regain her equilibrium. But there she was treated by most (though not by Catherine) as a non-entity, since she'd lived for so long in the new world. Now she's planning to return to Waterloo, partly to fix the mistakes she made when involved with Travis, and partly out of spite that she can return while he cannot. She's trying to avoid relationships with her kind now, only having brief flings with mortals. Vampires are just too much trouble.
