Stevie Nicks!!

Stevie Nicks is possibly the most inspirational of the rock queens, she is amazingly pretty, writes/ sings the most original fantastic songs and seems to be a lovely person.

Stephanie Lynn Nicks was born on 26th may 1948 in Phoenix, Arizona, U.S.A at approximately 3:00am. Instantly she showed a strong intrest and love of music and began singing country and western duets with her granfather at age 4. After moving to San Francisco Stevie met her future long time companion Linsey Buckingham. By this time, Stevie was in high school and she had began writing and performing songs.

Stevie and Linsey were signed to Polydor records and produced an album titled 'Buckingham-Nicks'.But the album failed and the two were dropped from the label, attracting attention from Mick Fleetwood who invited them to join Fleetwood Mac with him, bassist John McVie and pianist, Christine McVie (left with Stevie). In 1975, Fleetwood Mac's self titled album hit the charts and they released Stevie's song 'Rhiannon'. This was a huge success. Stevie's trademark husky voice and hipee image provided them with a charismatic frontwoman.

Fleetwood Mac's 1977 album 'Rumours' was one of the biggest selling albums of all time.At this time Stevie's relationship with Linsey came to an end. The band mantained it's popularity through the early 80's but Nicks, Buckingham and Christine McVie had all began pursuing solo careers. The most successful of these was Stevie's. In 1981, she released the album 'Bella Donna' featuring the hit singles 'Edge of Seventeen'(MY FAVOURITE!!)and 'Stop draggin' my heart around'.A year later Fleetwood Mac reconvened for the album 'mirage'. After this album, the band went on a hiatus for a while. During this time Stevie released 'Wild Heart' (1983) and 'Rock a little' (1985) both entering the top 15.

After becoming highly stressed she became addicted to cocaine and then to prescription medication Stevie vowed she would never perform again. However, she was lured out of retirement for Fleetwood Mac's 1997 reunion. In 2001, Stevie made her long awaited seventh solo album, 'Trouble In Shangri-La'.
