On April 25, 1977, Joe and Sharon West, were proud parents of the newest addition to their family, Matthew Joseph West was brought into this world. Matthew West was born in Downers Grove, IL. Matthew has 2 brothers Joel(26) and Adam(21), and one sister-in-law Arianne, which is Joel's wife. Matthew 28, is happily married to Emily, and they have the cutest puppy.
Matthew had dreams of becoming major league baseball player, and some day play for the Cubs, but unfortuantely, that dream didn't come true for Matthew, cause God had other plans for him.
Matthew says" I wrote my first song when I was one day old and it was Ga Ga Ga Go Go Go" I find myself find this beyond the cutest song yet. At age 13 Matthew had accepted God into his life, in which from what we hear from Matthew himself, God is his strength, and it shows. May, 1995 Matthew graduated from High School(Downer's Grove North Highschool),in which his parents were very proud. In August, 1995 Matthew started College(Milikin University), and in September, 1995 while sitting in his dorm, he completed his first independent cassette "September Sun", and a month later he did a 3 city tour to support "September Sun".
In 1998 he released his 2nd independent cassette "Every Step Of The Way", both of his independent cassettes sold hundreds of copies. May 23, 1999 andother day that Matthew's parents were proud, Matthew graduated from College(). The month of July, 1999 lots of things took place for Matthew, one being on the 1st of July, Matthew makes a huge change in his life, he moved to Nashville, TN, later in the month, he signed his first publishing design.
In 2001, Matthew had a limited time edition of his album "Sellout", it is hard to find. Also in January of the same year, it made a special little fans day, a girl named Taylor, she has Down Syndrome, got to meet Matthew and spend the day with him. "This is why History is Made" Matthew states. Everyone that is a Matthew West fan, and enjoys his music, knows about his arm story, did you know he actually hurt his arm on July 26, 2002? If not you do now. August 23, 2002 Matthew signed for his record deal, sadly to say he had to use his other hand. Poor Matthew.
As I mentioned earlier Matthew is married to Emily, but did you know that he purposed to her on September 27, 2002, she said yes, and on May 10, 2003 they were married. Which was Emily and Matthew's Happiest Day. And that is the how the album "Happy came about" Matthew says. Uniquely to say that it was a good Christmas for Matthew and Emily, cause not only was it their first christmas as husband and wife, but the next day was the release of his debut album "Happy".
Matthew is the type of guy, who likes to pull suprises on people, especially his wife, for instances on Valentines Day, Febuary 14, 2005 he got his wife a female black pug puppy dog, and they named her Earl, in which makes a good addition to their family. Matthew, Emily, and Earl, currently live in Nashville, Tennessee, they attend one of the Baptist Churches there, and Matthew states:" I think this past Sunday we were sitting right behind Rebecca St.James". In April 2005 Matthew was nominated for 5 dove awards, for his album and songs off of "Happy". The most recent news is that June 21, 2005 Matthew had another release "History" and let me tell you that it is an awesome album. Matthew has a special song on there for Taylor, called "The Last Ones" it is a very unique and inspiring song.
If your not a member of Matthew's Site, you should be, especially when you get the great experiences to talk to him live like we did on June 22, 2005, and we all had a blast even Matthew did. Also, in June not sure of the exact date, but all of his fans that were in the chat found out some very wonderful news, and I am going to share with you all, that Matthew and Emily are expecting a new addition to their family, Emily is going to be having a baby, "I think it is a boy" Matthew says, but she is due in January. "Congratulations Matthew and Emily" says all the fans and especially the westies.
There will be more coming, when I get time, but this is it for now. You all enjoy, ok?
