Email: Virtually Minding Your Manners
Email Do's & Don'ts
- Do remember your privacy as well as the recipient's privacy
- Don't write an email and send it too quickly (edit & revise).
- Do use the same consideration you would use in writing a memo.
- Don't use capital letters. It is like yelling electronically.
- Don't assume that everyone has the same software and will be able to open any and all attachments.
- Don't use email when the message is confidential, there is a possibility it may be misunderstood, or you need a response right now.
- Don't send unnecessary email (i.e. advertisements, junk mail, etc.).
- Do remember to keep messages as brief as possible.
