Glay
Glay basically began
when the leader, Takuro, became dissatisfied with his high-school band,
wanting to play more than just pop music, and decided to start his own band.
He recruited friends and members of various rival bands, such as Ari and
Pierrot (not the current Pierrot.) It was tough keeping the band togeather
after high-school graduation when their drummer and bassist went off to
do other things, but Glay was officially discovered by Yoshiki of X Japan,
who came to see them in concert. He signed the band under his label, Extasy
Records, and afterwards their popularity skyrocketed. Their first
big hit was "Rain." There are two supporting musicians
who work with them, Toshi Nagai on drums, and D.I.E. on keyboards. D.I.E.
eventually left the group to pursue solo work.
To
my knowledge, Glay is still together.
