The SuperChamps! Antidepressant (Right Now Records)

Looking for a simple and enriching garage rock `n' roll and roots music experience? Maybe kick yourself into the mood to try testing a sample of the The SuperChamps! They may not become an all-consuming musical mystery but their belief in the visceral and spiritual powers, and the catchiness of this kind of alternative country rock makes this collection of songs special. Specifically, spin Antidepressant and you are communicating directly with the Planet Zoltar High Council of the Collective Mind. (it says so on the disc's package) WE are entering their world now. Plus, this album gets better with age and exceeds the typical band arc. Champs! discover that mixing rich and complementary roots and rock vibes suits them here. Recorded with vintage Fender guitars and shabby amplifiers straight to ½" 8-track analog tape the mood created is like the warmth of a cabin frig stocked with Stroh's and did I mention it's also drinkin' mustic too. The album has taken off in an underground flight so grab one because it has been proven that a lot of rockers love when Col. T. Porter Harp's songs in front of gutsy guitar by Dave Voss backed by bassplayer Tim Fekete and drummer Kevin White. I'm putting them on watch after climbing out of a stack of demos at places like Sunset Tavern, Elysian Brewery and the Huricane Cafe. They've been set free!
