Due to recent statements made by Megadeth's Dave Mustaine on the official Megadeth site's message boards at www.MEGADETH.com, fans of both Megadeth and Metallica have opened their minds to burying the hatchet of old grudges and past feuds. As fans of both bands know, Dave Mustaine's departure from Metallica along with forming Megadeth back in 1983, has sparked over a decade and a half of rivalry between fans. As someone who has always been a fan of both bands, who appreciates all that they have contributed to the world of metal, it seems about time that we, as fans, unite and rise above our past squabbles, just as both bands did long ago. In the 80's it was hair metal, in the 90's grunge and now "nu-metal" that has threatened heavy metal into almost extinction, yet we've been our own worst enemies in going against each other. If we ban together, fight the real enemy and learn to have mutual admiration for two of the true innovators of our time, then the future of metal would, without a doubt, take an interesting turn. There's a big buzz going on at both the official Megadeth and Metallica sites. Surprisingly, the response so far, has been overwhelmingly positive, indicating that this truce has been anticipated by many of us for a long time. With Megadeth being on tour supporting their latest release "The World Needs A Hero", kicking off the American leg of the tour on September 7th and Metallica going into the studio soon to record their next release, this is a great time to show our support and call a truce between fans. You can read Dave Mustaine's comments on the official www.MEGADETH.com message boards.
