| Genealogy The best of the best in genealogy research and resources online. I am so indebted to these great folks, they will never know how much they have helped my extended family!
Latter Day Saints FamilySearch.org I am not Mormon but I love these people based solely on the great service they have done us all by volunteering to research and post all this family and community data for us. I think history will show us that having this information gathered together is a phenomenal achievment. Perhaps the 8th wonder of the world given the volume of the records involved and the far flung areas it was gathered from. http://www.familysearch.org/
Cyndi's List: This gal has dedicated her life to this work and it shows! Over the last 8 years she has developed the premiere website for online sources. If you need it, dig here. http://www.cyndislist.com/
USGenWeb: This all volunteer group is really a network of genealogists across the United States who research and share and maintain data for the benefit of others. The work is ongoing and there is new data in each state and county almost daily. I have never met a more generous set of strangers. http://usgenweb.org/
WorldGenWeb: This is the worldwide version of the USGenWeb and it is not as comprehensive. But it has helped me a great deal and depending on the country of your origin, you can strike real family history gold here. It's worth checking into and checking back with periodically. More volunteers add more data all the time in their own locallity. http://worldgenweb.org/ |
