Good Charlotte: Giving Hope To The Fans

Good Charlotte

When Good Charlotte's successful 2nd Album, "The Young and The Hopeless" (now at Platinum-status), was released in May 2002, the catchy sounds and fun lyrics mesmerized thousands of fans. In fact, the soaring vocals and harmonous blend of music created by twin brothers, Joel and Benji, and others is whatis giving half their fans a reason to hold on when the times are tough. Along with Bassist Paul Thomas and Guitarist Billy Martin, the Maddin twins have given hope to their fans through their amazing lyrics that relate to alot of what they put up with through out daily life. Joel and Benji wrote "Hold On" as a response to the fans they encountered in the course of their many months on tour. The twins found that they shared similar experiences of poverty and abuse with their listeners. Today Benji claims this song as one of his favorite tracks on their new album. "The Anthem" is a song that Good Charlotte has written for the ones that just don't "fit in". After meeting kids that have been socially shunned due to their appearances, lack of money, and other pointless narrow-minded reasons, the band feels they've given their fans "a song that would help them get through the day. I'ts a song that could help them say, 'hey, bring it on- it won't bother me because I don't wanna be like you'(Benji Madden). Songs like these help teens see that their not alone in the world and aren't the only ones going through what their experiencing. "The kids that we were five years ago- I just want to give those kids something to help them through the day".
