"The Shakedown Newsletter"
#8
      Well,
well, well, WELL.... The "Shakedown Band" was at it
again Thursday night, Feb.07, 2002. Once again it was at, "The
Studio" on Crockford Blvd. Scarborough.
      The rehearsal
brought forth about 2-3 new tunes that will be continued on into
this weeks upcoming rehearsal on Feb.14th . It was enjoyable
and light and this time the affable Peter Szekeres was present
and happening nicely as were you all.
      The "Shakedown
Band" players during the rehearsal discussed the matter of
a comrade-type gathering for the sake of just hanging together
as friends for a period of time together. Getting some brother-hood
time together while away from the grind of the studio workouts.
Just R&R it and do some light hearted talking on their music
while listening to some of their music recordings, having some
munchies and whatever else strikes their fancy. We should do this
real soon. Again I hope we will all attend and also to be able
to have the J-Man present so as to properly include and introduce
him. He plays very much a key roll in our PR developments. I would
also suggest again that a weekend day would be best for this.
Lets be prepared to make a final date this week at rehearsal for
this event.
      Conducting
the rehearsals is a lot of work and even frustrating sometimes.
However, I for one am slowly coming around to another curve in
the road to the "Shakedown Band" saga and feel that
the band will pull this project off in good fashion in the long
run.
      It helps
to relax more on its issues and share the workload amongst the
membership. So guys, be prepared to dig in of your own accord
and offer up suggestions of which songs we play next from the
list of songs that we do play. Plus be prepared to start bringing
your own personal pieces of work that you have written to the
table and that you feel that you would like to see what the band
can do with them. Lets get our works on digital once and for all
as the summer is coming fast and I for sure dont want to
extend our material prep time beyond the spring period. Let alone
the bookings for the places for us to play will be starting early
into spring giving us even less time to get our shit together.
      You all
have brought forward lots of good work up to now which has resulted
in a lot of great ideas on the songs we have been working on.
Now lets see if you all can stay the line some more and be repetitive
on those ideas consistently each and every time that we play the
materials. I know what it is I want both from my own parts I play
and each of your parts being played.
      Thats
whats next on the rehearsals blackboard. Hence the MP3 features
and tapes will reaffirm to all what we will each need to be doing
for our individual play on each song. Once on top of that properly
we are going to blow the audience away as well as the roof off
of the rooms we play in.
      News Update:
      1.) The
band will continue to look towards altering its locations for
its rehearsals after Feb.14, 2002. At which point we will have
completed a 4-week booked commitment at "The Studio"
location on Crockford Blvd., Scarborough. After which point perhaps
the band will again try "The Art Zone" along with some
other tested studios and perhaps some "new" locations
like the "Cactus Studios" as suggest by the Stevie-Keys
man.
      2.) If
at any time any of you feel that you would want to update or add
items to the Newsletter or the Web Site then feel free to send
it to me and well get it onboard. All inputs to the bands
materials and efforts towards the bands identity are appreciated
greatly.
      3.) A
new feature providing the above #2 item updates will be placed
here and you are all welcome to participate with your comments,
issues or whatever you please and have it added to our Shakedown
Band Newsletters. Just cut and paste here or send an attachment
on an E-mail to me.
      Ok yous
Guys... thats a wrap.
      Yours
truly,
      Madcowjack
