"The Shakedown Newsletter" #11

Well, well, well, WELL.... I just don’t believe the changes and developments that have been taking place as of late with The "Shakedown Band". In reflecting on the past weeks since we hit that proverbial, "Bump in the Road". The "Shakedown Band" is certainly getting a ‘snootfull’ of transitions… fighting back and pushed onto the ropes, but no where near to being knocked out of commission. We have come back in the late rounds swinging like the champs that we are guys.

Our newest addition, the wonderfully talented, Mr. James Bruce… Bassist extraordinar… has been a pleasure to have aboard with us. The man has lit a fire under our asses and we have established that we can write well together. He brings with him a great attitude and a whaling new style to the bass/rhythm that will push us on to new heights we’re sure… what am I saying… he already has been doing just that… verryy smooth Jimmy.

Where the HELL is that elusive Stevie-Keys? Yo, Yo, Yo… Stevie… all is forgiven, please come home to us soon. Ok?

Actually, Stevie sounded pretty sincere about hooking back up with us after his short hiatus and he’s known to usually speak the truth about such matters. He has even gone as far as to say he would be trying to get into position with us at this week’s rehearsal. Hope ya make it buddy… your missing out on a good deal of fun music rehearsals.

I for one have been listening to our newest tunes a lot, ‘Chameleon’ (6:03) and ‘Not Today’ (4:05). I tell ya guys, I just can’t help but start, ‘shaken my ass’ when I listen to the stuff that’s going on in ‘Chameleon’ (6:03). Brandon’s pump’n the skins just like he was listening to a little voice saying, "Brandon…use the force…use the force, Brandon. Great Riffs Jimmy.

The J-man has taken a little hiatus himself as he has been going through some variables in his busy life with this and that… (Women thingy stuff) he has found a new "crib" and has been moving and dealing with those changes at this time. But soon we will be bugging him to add new stuff to our web site. Good luck with the new digs and friends J-man.

Well I just had to put one of these little ol’ Shakedown Letters out as I was inspired to do so after the pleasant weeks I’ve been spending with you all. Look’n forward to this Wednesday night and seeing what it brings with it… Yo, Yo, Yo Stevie-Keys… where is that man gone too now?

Meanwhile you guys… "The Shakedown Band" will be rehearsing at, "THE ART ZONE STUDIO" on Broadview Ave. @ Danforth Ave. in Toronto on WEDNESDAY evenings from 7:00pm–10:00pm for the next upcoming weeks with the only exception being May 15th as it is Jimmy’s Birthday. Therefore we are going to rehearse on Thursday, May.16th, instead so that Jim and his wife and family can enjoy that special day and time together with him. A very, "Happy Birthday" to you Jimmy from the "Shakedown Band". May you have many, many more.

The MP3 thingy will demo to date some of our best takes during our rehearsals of the songs and help to communicate when trying to get across a sound or a part of the songs that needs to be incorporated into the songs on a consistent basis by each player. We all now have a list and an MP3 copy of the cuts to be keen on for getting it tighter. There’s not going to be any pressures laid out here and with just listening to these takes as often as possible we’ll get it all down to where it all has to go. At least that’s the theory…

      Ok you’s Guys... that’s a wrap.

      Yours truly,

      Madcowjack
