Billie Joe Armstrong was born on Febuary 17,1972. Both of his parents were strongly into music! His dad was a part-time Jazz player! Billie Joe all of his life has been into music,ever since he was little! He used to sing at a hospital where his mother worked, to cheer people up when he was young. Billie Joe got into punk rock when a couple of friends let him listen to a few records.
When Billie Joe was 14, he got his first guitar which was a blue stratocaster.He still owns and plays it today!
Michael Pritchard(a.k.a. Mike Dirnt) was born on May 4, 1972. His mother succommed to a heroine addiction and he was put up for adoption, in which his adoptive parents took him. They divorced when he was 7. And he commuted back and forth bettween their houses. He met Billie Joe in the 5th grade,and in time ended up workin at a restaraunt where Billie Joe's mother worked. When he was 15, he rented a room out of billie joes house. He married and had 1 child but later divorced his wife. He still visits his daughter.
Frank Edwin Wright III(a.k.a. Tre Cool) was born on december 9, 1972,at the age of twelve he joined his friends band, and after greendays first drummer left, tre joined! He married in 2000, and already had a child from a previous marrage, his wife and him are expecting a new baby.
Greenday started and contributed 2 the California punk scene. Billie Joe And Mike started a band called Sweet Children, at the age of 14. In 1989 Al Sobrante joined the band as their drummer, and they cahnged the name to GreenDay!They released an album independently. Shortly after, they singed with a record label and relpaced Al with Trey.The band didnt become noticed until their release of Kerplunk. Soon After came Dookie with hits like, "Longview", "Basket Case", and "When I Come Around", made this CD sell over 11 million records WORLDWIDE!
After this came the follow up album, Insomniac with hita like J.A.R and Brain Stew. After Came Nimrod, one of the best albums ever by GreenDay!In 2000, Warning was released with a radio favorite hit, "Minority". After that the band released International Superhits, an album that has all of the bands best hits. If you can only afford to buy 1 greenday C.D., buy this one! The band recently went on tour with Blink 182 when this album was released!
