Happy Holidays from the new family of FOUR!

Wow! It's hard to believe that Joe and I came to Germany as a couple and now we have a family with two cute little boys! We are amazed at how fast this year flew by...our summer beach trips to Spain, a November stork visit which brought Cole to our lives, my in-laws 1st visit to Germany, and Joe's 2nd deployment to Iraq. It's been quite a year of challenges and growth!

Christmas

The boys and I spent Christmas without Joe for the 1st time.
Hard, yes...but we made the best of it. The day before Christmas we did a VTC (Video Tele Conference) where we were able to see Joe on a big screen and talk to him with a 5 second delay. Chance got so excited, he climbed on top of the table and did his version of the "running man" aeach time he sees his daddy on the big screen! It's been quite an eye opener...being a geographical "single" parent. Juggling two kids while shopping or even using the bathroom has become a challenge! It sounds hilarious but believe me, I give credit to those parents with more than one kid all at young ages! Chance is in his "Terrible Twos" made worse by his jealousy over Cole's presence and Joe's deployment. He gives me the runaround! His separation anxiety has grown worse and yet he is constantly asserting his independence. Cole is a good baby...an absolute angel most of the time...who keeps me entertained with his many facial expressions! Here's hoping Cole is blessed with Joe's high cheekbones and long eyelashes!

Joe has kept in contact with us daily either by e-mail, IM, or phone. We've managed to participate in 2 VTCs I send Joe lots of photos of the boys and a synopsis of our daily activities. The separation is difficult, but it could be worse! When Joe's dad did his tour in Vietnam, his mom heard his voice only once during the year since communication technology was limited back then. We are very fortunate!

The boys and I are grateful to have family and friends around the world who care and have shown support for the military life we have chosen. I want to express my gratitude to you. It's times like these I realize how precious family and friends are...please don't sweat the small stuff!
