Vigilance was initially formed in
August 2002. Unnamed and unknown the band was formed as a trio of
Gethin Jones (Bass), Paul Edwards (Guitar) and Mark Mills (Drums). The
three members meeting through mutual friends of the Music Station in
Bridgend. Calling themselves Shred of Decency the stage was set but
after unsuccessful attempts to sing and play from Paul's part it was
decided that a singer should be brought in. With the help of Glyn
Mills, manager and promoter of numerous bands as well as the
entertainment organiser for the tollhouse Amy Coppard was found as a
regular at the live music venue. A bit nervous and tentative at first
Amy bit the bullet and joined in February 2003. The first Demo was
recorded in June 2003 consisting of the three songs Insomnia, Mother
F**k and Speak Out Creating a unique audio display of Old School Rock,
Thrash but also melodic and mellow textures revealing the full range
capable of this humble band. |

Vigilance started gigging in August 2003 and with a knock on effect
the fan base gradually developed. Playing with the likes of Nuke (Now
Emily All Over), Opium, Sons of Thunder, Pete's Sake, The Next Nine
Years, to name but a few. From January onwards with the help of Glyn
Mills acting as manager and promoter Vigilance were gigging twice to
three times a week all over South Wales. The pressure built up and
with a near bust up it was suggested in April 2004 to have a break
whilst everyone finished at college and University to then regroup in
the summer. This decision would prove to have both a positive and
negative effect on the band.
