Teton Dam

The Fall of the Teton Dam This is what's left of the Teton Dam. It failed right after it was filled on June 5, 1976.
The Teton Dam was a 305 foot earthfill dam that crossed the Teton River. The underlying geology is composed of jointed rhyolite tuff, a basalt flow, and loess (windblown silt). Dam!
Wonder what they said when it broke? The were several reasons for failure. For more information on the failure of the Teton Dam, click here.
