John Allen, SR-71's new drummer, is not a newcomer to the music scene. He began to build his career as a drummer in the Baltimore and Washington area in the late 80s with his band Child's Play. The band was signed to Chrysalis in 1989 and released their debut album, Rat Race, in 1990. After a change in lead singers and the release of their second CD, Long Way, in 1993, the band slowly drifted apart.

John's next band, Starseed Speed, released thier debut CD, Phunked Up and Fazed Out, in 1996. The band has released music under Deep South and Fowl Records. John's latest band, UXB, includes four members of Starseed Speed in addition to Idzi from the Baltimore-based band Slurp. UXB released their self-titled debut CD last January, which you can buy at Amazon.com.

John has known the other members of SR-71 for a long time, and Mitch is given credit in the liner notes of the Child's Play albums. In fact, John actually played drums with SR-71 at the time they were auditioning for RCA while Dan was recovering from surgery. John, with his experience and talent, is a powerful addition to the SR-71 lineup.
