How Tablature Works

People play guitar for many reasons.  Some want to fulfill their rock-star dream.  Others want to be accepted.  Some are drawn to the transportability of guitars and how easy it is to make good sounding music.  Tablature makes learning and communicating a song easy.  It takes lots of practice and time to learn to read sheet music - time people today don't have.  Tablature can be understood almost instantly.  Here's an example based on the song Acoustic #3 by Goo Goo Dolls.

The letters on the far left represent the strings on the guitar.  The numbers represent which fret to press down.  For example, the first note you would play would be a G, or the third fret on the E string. Not too difficult, right?  The yellow hear box appears on all tabs within this website.  To hear what the song should sound like click on the button and a MIDI file of that part of the particular song will play.
