The American Revolution was a war caused by unfair treatment leading to the rise of a new nation which "broke the rules" that other nations had previously. Brave men and women stood up to their "superiors" and made a name for themselves. Little did they know that their hard work and very painful and difficult sacrifices would create a republic nation that would become a major world power.
The dream of these patriots was to establish a nation whre it did not matter who your father was but what you accomplished as a person. The people who played a huge role in this belief were Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and Benjamin Franklin. They were delegates for the Continental Congress. They all wanted to write a Declartion of Independence. The man who actually wrote it would become America's third president, Thomas Jefferson. The Continental Congress agreed on the Declaration and declared war on England. after 8 long years the colonies won the war and became the United Sates of America fullfiling the hopes and dreams of these Founding Fathers.
