The Daniel Greer Band is an acoustic rock group, consisting of three members, Daniel Greer, Jonathan Greer, and Matt Marshall. The group was started in mid-2001 by Daniel and Jonathan Greer. Hailing from Lindsay,Ontario, the brothers have had much musical experience prior to this band. Dan was in a metal band called Battle Cry, was in an acoustic rock group called Abbreviation. Jonathan was also working on starting a heavy rock band with his friends. However, after countless campfire Jam sessions, they realized that the best option for them was to join together. They got together, and soon had a cd recorded. Shortly after the release of their cd, percussioninst Matt Marshall joined up.
Using a mostly acoustic instruments, the bands style ranges from raw, acoustic grunge(Nirvana Unplugged, Neil Young) to more ballady type bands like Tool, Radiohead, and slower Led Zep or Pink Floyd stuff. They try to be artistic with the music, while still having a sound that everyone, of all ages, can enjoy.
Percussionist Josh VanHalteren has joined "The Daniel Greer Band" to make us 5 piece now. His bio, along with newly added bass player Mark VanHalteren, are up now.
We are starting work on a new CD, scheduled to be out by early 2003. It is definetly going to blow our last CD away, we are getting everything professionally done, and it's going to sound great! We will have more info on this as time goes on.
The Lindsay Music Project CD is done, it's called "Outloud: The Music of the City of Kawartha Lakes", it features 17 songs by 9 bands. Other then us, the cd features Looking for Heather, Lonely Heights, The Delicious Fakers, MiddleFingerResponse!, Jay Spectre, The Sum of All Ages, and Hooty McOwl. It is available at Poorboys for $6.99, but we will be selling them personally for $5. It's definetly worth picking up.

Thursday, October 10th - I.E. Weldon acoustic coffeehouse. We will be playing for about a half-hour, alongside some other Weldon acts. It'll basically be a sit-down, mellow type show, no drums, just really straight up. It costs $3, and goes from 7-10. Anyone is welcome, not just Weldon students. Apparently, the coffee is free.
Sunday, November 3rd - Youth Jam at the Winchester Arms in Lindsay. Goes from around 1 or so, till about 4. How long we play basically depends on how many other bands show up to play, but probably for a half-hour. Anyone who wants to play, can come out as well, the only requirement is that at least half the band is under 19. It is free, but food and drinks will be available for purchase.
