CONFRONTATION AT DENVER

The last weekend of June, Denver (which is located in Colorado) was the "scene" of the appropriately titled Denver Pop Festival. It was more than a simple gathering under a pseudo-gala heading. It was, in fact, a double confrontation: a nearly-trite clash withthe usual ouside influence, the heat; secondly, the groups that performed produced sounds that are obviously either the death rattle of acid rock or the grim messenger announcing another new American musical trend.

The music was more impressive in print than in person. Poco did a set of their country-rock. Interesting, but the group needs more than Furay. Every song sounded like a derivation of "Child's Claim to Fame."
