Wow.
I am soooo overwhelmed right now. This week has been a total blur. It started out completely normal and about halfway through, it took a complete u-turn. On Wednesday I visited my dermatologist in rockville. I wasn't expecting anything worth mentioning to happen, all day I had been creating a mental list of things I needed to remember to tell her.
-current meds not really doing anything
-stopped using topicals, too painful
-tired of finding acne in embarrassing spots
so anyway I went after school with my mom and after talking with her for literally two minutes, we had decided that what I was taking wasn't working and that I might try accutane. my mom was skeptical because she had heard so much negative things about it. the depression aspect concerned her the most because it runs in both sides of my family (lucky me). we went over all of the papers and stuff and I took a few tests (yuck). I had some blood work done and we went home. so now I had this whole new big thing going on and I wanted to know about it. both of my older cousins used accutane. Christy, now 21, had never had acne until college and it wasn't so bad, but decided to go ahead with trying accutane, which she used only for 3 months. her younger brother , is closer in age to me and he had it worse than Christy or I ever had it. he used accutane for 6 months and his skin is perfect now. he is now a model in NYC. so I called their mom, my aunt, and we chatted about it. my mom, the informed guru she is, jumped online and found out as much as she could about it. then she later talked OT some of our neighbors and found out that two of them had used it and it had resulted in clear skin. I decided to go ahead with taking it, but I'm not starting until , because I am big on giving blood and wanted to give one last time before starting the meds(since you can't donate until a few months after use of accutane).
so I am anxious yet eager to begin the medication, and I intend to keep a weekly blog of this so check back for updates and pics.
