Music

Music has been a huge part of my life for years. I'm not sure where to begin. I started getting into music when i was about 10 years old. Got my first 2 rap CDs. haha. Then I first heard Rage Against the Machine. And since it had rap and rock, i listened to them, listening to the rap and also becoming accustomed to rock. Then, i slowly began to listen to straight out rock. 7th grade I got a tape of the band Bush. In eight grade, my brother got me into this Christian ska band called Five Iron Frenzy. My Freshman year of high school I discovered one of my all-time favorite bands,Incubus.
Incubus just blew me away. Awesome vocals, drums, guitar, a DJ, and the way they composed it all together sounded so great. Everything about them was just so perfect and awesome. I've been hooked since. Since then, I've just listened to ever rock band that came my way. Another all-time fave was Linkin Park, who is one of the few bands that can successfully fuse rock and hip-hop seamlessly.
Another awesome thing about Incubus is their drummer, Jose Pasillas III, basically taught me drums. I learned some basics back in 7th grade, but never got a set until my sophomore year in hi school. Then i just would plug Incubus' albums into my CD player, and play along. And that's how I learend to do a lot of stuff on the drums. Thanks Jose!!Then, in high school me and some friends from high school formed a band Identity Crisis, so check out the page while you're at it. We only did maybe 3 or 4 shows, and made a short 6-track demo. But it was all fun, and was a great learning experience. Meanwhile, I'd also been playing for my local church for 2 years.
In college, I began to listen to more and more music, trying out different styles and amassing a larger collection. After getting further into my major, I noticed that after my video production class I began paying more attention to the music scores in music, and respected the impact they made. I began listening more, and eventually bought a soundtrack CD to 28 Days Later, which is still a favorite soundtrack of mine. Then, I began even listening to soundtracks on game, and the soundtrack to the Silent Hill games really caught my ear.
I began then trying to find ways to do my own instrumental tracks, but never really took off until I discovered Mixcraft, an editing and mixing software specifically designed for this purpose. Thus, I began making tracks, using pre-made loops and designing my own loops.
Before long, i had enough for 2-3 albums of music, and haven't stopped since. At first, I began making upbeat, catchy rhythm'n'bass tracks and thought of the artist name DJ Dredd. But after I began creating my own loops from scratch, I started carving out more tracks with an eerie sound, inspired by Akira Yamaoka the music composer of the Silent Hill game series. So then, I changed my name to The Dredd. (artist page here.) Then, in December of 2011, I decided to put 14 tracks into an album "The Impulse of Life," and is now available on iTunes! Hooray!
