d:yeah we just had a blinder um friday night we played that lower hutt town hall
p:yep, all ages gig too yeah
d: yeah that was all ages um there probaly wasnt as many people as had expected but the crow was just like probaly one of the best crowds weve had you know they were really into ti
p:sweet yeah, oh its pretty wild territory down that man
d:the thing is for us, we could only have two people but as long as they're singing along and loving it its cool ya know

d: the same with saturday night, saturday night went off, it was a really good show at the parthenon

p:who else was on the bill for that?
d:um a local band called peirced, who were really good, they were wicked um and good friends of ours of um blindspott a band called stylus
p:oh ok yep yeah, and theyre from auckland are they?
d:yeah theyre another west auckland band
p:sweet now um if you ah let me soo, congratulations in order firstly for doing the album man its blinding, its awesome mate the packaging and the sound on it the production on its just mind blowing
d:yeah we put a lot of time and effort into it ay and as well with the graphics, like i try and take care of as much of it as i can
p:yep
d:um so yeah we sorta, weve kept everything in the house you know but the whole production of the band is kept in house ya know just for quality control i guess...we wanna give people the best we can
p:um, ah the album sales too, theyve gone through the roof
d:yeah the have
p:and you debuted on the charts didnt ya?
d:yep we debuted at number one
p:wicked man
d:and the thing is as well, another good thing for us as well, the week before there was another kiwi band at number one ya know, and it just keeps getting better ay

d:so hopefully there will be another kiwi band next week
p:well thats unreal, yeah like weve been saying the new zealand music thing is really starting to take off
d:yeah it is
p:and you guys are bloomin cruising at the moment
d:its good to see people getting behind it ay

p:you guys are from west auckland too arent ya?
d:yep
p:same sorta area
d:yeah yeah, pretty much
p:yep, how long has the band been going?
d:um, as it stands, as we are now weve been together i think about three years
p:yep
d:but um blindspotts, the actual blindspotts has been formed probaly since about early 98 or late 97 ust like all the guys have been playing together, ya know me and karl were sorta the last two people to join the band so as of late but they went through a whole lot of singers and dj's
p:yep so who were you singing with before this damian?
d:um i was with a band called krupse 101 which was um just sorta local we sorta wrote a bit played some covers and wrote some music and before that i was just in a band with some school mates, ive been playing music since i was about 13 or 14
p:yep, yeah
d:its all good
p:mate, its gotta be a bit of a fairytalke for you know isnt it?
d:well yeah, i remember sitting on the grass at big day out just off my chops just sitting there going ohy man, i wanna do this one day ya know and its just so ya know so fufilling for mt to actually be able to it

d:thanks, yeah weve definetly put a lot of time and effort into it. we only anticipated being in the studio like four weeks

p:did you get to meet him? did you guys get over to the states to do the mixing or anything?
d:nah we were um, we couldnt afford it, we basically put every single cent we had as a band into getting it mastered cause we were so happy with the final mixes we thought nah we gotta spend some decent money on it and just get it ___ mastering job done
p:wicke dman, are you guys at the stage yet where um its looking like your gonna be able to make a living out of music?
d:um well i dunno, its always hard to tell ya know especially with music cause you dont know if people are gonna like it or not um probaly the most important thing for us is you know we still love what were doing and were gonna keep doing it until ya know, further notice i spose
p:for sure, awesome man, now um where else are you going on this tour? i know your in hamilton this weekend coming aren't ya?

d:nah, no the dates have changed, yeah there was a slight um mix up with that cause theres a world series show on at the st james which were playing at this friday

p:have you guys played in hamilton before?
d:yeah, yeah weve sorta played the x games

d:sorta each year weve sorta tried to get down there and play the x games if we can, if we can get a slot and um, im not sure but i think well be down there for the as well but weve got another tour coming up after this asweel which will probaly be early next year
p:you guys are flat out man

p:yeah so obviously everyones had to can their day jobs and stuff
d:nah nah were all still working, its a bit of a juggling act but its working out

d:well weve got a release due in australi soon um, EMI australia have picked the album up and theyre gonna release it over there

d:yeah, well i dont realy write the songs as such, i write basically the lyrics and vocal melodies and we sorta just get together and basically spill our guts for ideas and stuff and basically a song will come of it
p:so its pretty much a, the whole lot of you in there doing it
d:yeah all five of us write

d:its good because for us um right now its a good time because you know were out the touring and its just so happens that good friends of ours 8 goot and another good you know, the guy that produced our album, his band um, stylus you know theyre out there doing it as well so its like, well we'll get toghether you know, take west auckland to the world
