SodaStream Selector Vol 1 was released late last year. A value 4 track compilation in which Liverpool angular
moog rockers fabiola appear along side incomparable no-fi punk rock ladies (and
gent) the flamingo 50. Its very beautifully pressed up on heavy
audiophile vinyl and comes in attractive full colour packaging (a detail of
which is shown). Some copies might be left in non-corporate
retail outlets throughout the UK (and in some stores in Europe and the US-
don't ask us where though 'cos we don't know). Unfortunately you can no longer get one straight from us 'cos we've sold them all. But our
postal address is SodaStream Politics, PO Box 844, Liverpool, UK, L69 7TT if you want to write to us. You
can also buy this record on-line at Rough
Trade, Penny Black or
Norman Records all of which have got
masses of good stuff on offer.
The flamingo 50 recordings are very noisy indeed and make
appropriate listening to accompany such activities as shouting, cavorting and
jumping up and down. The 50 have been gigging like mad recently including
notable slots at the opening party of 'Rock-Inn' run by the people who
run the very lovely Invicta Hi-Fi. The night was a top knees up also featured
guest DJs out of Belle and Sebastian and top Krautrocking teens Kling Klang.
November saw the band playing with Fabiola at the SodaStreamPolitics night and
a support slot to the beautiful and famous Le Tigre band. Since then the band have done loads more gigs and are about to start their first UK tour in July. Morgan and Louise
from the '50 have also found time to do loads of gigs with their other band-
the rocktastic Three Minute Margin who are so ace even the legendarily cynical
chaps from Probe

Fabiolas two tracks on
the EP were recorded with the able assistance of Mr Rob Ferrier (who you may be
familiar with through his work with the Clinic pop group). You can also find an
earlier lo-fi fabiola recording of their set closer Utility and Design
included in top alternative dj Jimmy Possession's top ten lists at

Plans are already afoot for SodaStream Selector Vol 2 which will feature an increased line up of potential underground superstars. The record will take the form of another split 7" and will be released mid 2001.
