Information about Melissa's upcoming projects!

Melissa taking this year off then working on a solo record and putting out a book of photographs. She also had a hand in designing stuff for James Iha's vapor clothing line.

Bassist Melissa Auf Der Maur of Smashing Pumpkins and Hole fame will be lending her voice to a track on the as-yet-untitled album from Team Sleep, a side project fronted by the Deftones' Chino Moreno. "I wanted Melissa because I wanted a voice that sounded angelic," Moreno said in a statement about the project. "Frank [Delgado, Deftones DJ] has been very involved in the music, and Abe [Cunningham, Deftones drummer] may do some drumming," added the singer. "Everyone in the Deftones will probably get a little piece of it." Although it seems as if the entire group is jumping on board the ambient, experimental side project, at the heart of Team Sleep is Moreno, DJ Crook, and Moreno's childhood friend, guitarist Todd Wilkenson, who have already finished at least four songs and are looking to complete about a dozen. For Moreno, most of this process will happen out on the road, as the Deftones are slated to kick off an outing with Incubus in October. In order to do so, Moreno said that he will bring his equipment out on tour and will be working in his hotel room after the shows and during his days off (see "Deftones Eye Incubus Tour As Chino Toils On Side Project"). In his statement, Chino also noted that the idea behind Team Sleep came about when the Deftones recorded an acoustic version of the band's song "Be Quiet And Drive" and that the Deftones' track "Teenager" was originally intended to be a Team Sleep song. Team Sleep is looking to have an album out sometime next year, though the project is still looking for a label.
