The electric bass was invented in 1951. Bassists wanted a louder and eaiser to handle bass. The new bass was named the Percision Bass. Unlike the stand up bass, the Precision Bass had frets, which now bassists were able to play with "precision". A new sound was born and music had been changed forever. The new Fender Standard Precision features a comfortd body, rosewood fingerboard and split-coil hum canceling pickup.
