You'll Be Mine

Next to "What's the New Mary Jane," this is positively the most ghastly spectacle uncovered in the Anthology CDs. For the most part, the primitive recordings at the start of Anthology 1 can be forgiven because we're hearing the origins of The Beatles, and said recordings nevertheless have their own flair. But this one, with Paul bleating like an end-of-the-road bluesman and John doing an Ink Spots-like commentary, almost make one long for the Decca Records sessions. Thank heavens they didn't audition to George Martin with this one, or we'd have never heard of The Beatles again.
