Hey every1..this is Dana's Dream Street Story! ****************************************************** **DISCOVERING DREAM STREET** Part 1:
Discovering Dream Street
Howdy, My name is Dana…and I just happen to like pokemon. So, of course, I had to watch “ The Power of One, The Pokemon 2000” movie! It was Dream Streets’ debut television performance. And OH were these guys good! I was immediately intrigued with this sensational new boy band. They were young, VERY talented and even cute! Their dance moves were phenomenal and fresh. As I watched Dream Street perform I just KNEW that this was HOT! And definitely headed for stardom. All of a sudden this adorable blond guy stepped forward and sang with the sweetest voice I ever heard! His sweet angelic voice captured my heart. I could have listened to him for hours…and I think I did!I was instantly struck with devotion for this band. I knew I had to learn all there was to know about Dream Street…where were they from, how old were they, what were their names, how could I get their music and when and where could I see them again. But where should I begin my search for this band!?! Early the following morning I got right to work. I spent hours on the phone, writing letters to every magazine, friend and family member I could think of. No one had ever heard of this group much less had any information on them. After weeks of trying I still had no more information then when I started my search for Dream Street. I was totally frustrated that my search came up empty! This band could not just have disappeared…could they?!? I was determined to continue my search for this HOT new group! As I rolled things over in my mind. Several quotes crept into my head. “You can make ANYTHING happen” “The more effort you put out the more you succeed” & “ Remember, as long as you are still trying, you have not failed!”…. to name a few. I continued my search for this band. Then one night as I was looking through teen magazines I came across an ad for Dream Street. I was suddenly filled with an unexplainable rush of excitement that I had never felt before. OMG! I was GOING to actually meet Dream Street! I did not know how, but I KNEW that I was going to be there!
**PART 2**
…That was Sunday night. Dream Street would be “near us” that Saturday…just six days later. With no time to waste I began preparations for our trip. It was a 250 mile drive one way to get to Dallas from where we live. We wanted to give something to Dream Street…something special. To show how much we enjoy them. I was already making our talent show costumes using sequins (to be told later) so I came up with the idea of making sequin name patches for each of them. I copied their logo from the and in the magazine. We made a Dream Street patch for each member of the band. As well as a patch for each with their name. Now if anyone if familiar with sequins they would know sewing these tiny sparkles is highly time consuming…but a lot of fun!! We worked hours and hours to get them done. Now life has a way of testing you… of seeing what you are made of, by flinging obstacles in your way. And believe me, I had more then my share of obstacles thrown my way. People who know me know that I am a very determined person. I will SUCCEED at anything I set my mind to do. I have proven it before and I will prove it again. Nothing worth while is ever easy. The man of our house had been out of work for about 3 weeks due to a back injury. So we really had no income to speak of. But we would not let that stop us. Where there is a will there is a way. Friday rolled around and we were no closer to having the money to make the trip then we were the day before. Come 4am Saturday morning we gathered our family, CD’s and video’s. We piled into our little red truck and headed to Dallas. We stopped at a pawnshop some where along the highway and managed to get fuel. We all looked frumpy when we finally arrived in Dallas…makeup half gone, hair unraveled, but at least we made it there. The show was so much more then we were expecting it to be. You see…I called the mall a few days before and asked how long the show was to be. The lady’s response was “It is in a mall for goodness sakes, How long could it be” So we were not expecting much when we got there. Oh How I love it when other people are wrong! The show began with an electrifying explosion of energy and a rush of adrenaline!! Dream Street was TOTALLY AWESOME! We were definitely awe struck! Waves of intense energy swept over the crowd from these hotties on the stage. We could feel the energy waves surrounding us. Seeing Dream Street in person just filled us with exhilaration. We had planned to give our gifts to Dream Street during the autograph session, but we got all caught up in the wild vibes coming at us from the stage…and we were soaking it ALL up! So I held up one of the gifts. Frankie noticed it first then Greg. They pointed at me one after the other going with the beat of the song Sugar Rush! It was heart pounding! We loved to watch that repeatedly on the videotape. Then Frankie began walking down the catwalk towards me…looking RIGHT AT ME…
**PART 3**
Frankie walked right up to the end of the stage where I was standing. He had a sweet “oh, that is so nice” look on his face. With the most genuinely heartfelt smile a guy can give. Wow what a Cutie! Hearts were pounding! You can imagine the thrill!! Frankie reached down with both of his hands and tapped my arms on both sides, I screamed “Take it!” I handed him the gift, he took it and held it up for the crowd to see. Then he turned around still holding up to show the other members of the band, he then walked back to the main stage. I held the next one up. Chris began to walk my way now. By this time I was freaking! I was all shaky and excited! Chris stopped in front of me and reached out to take the gift from my hands…but I had other ideas. I pulled it back a little, grabbed his hand and pulled him down to me and he gave me a hug. The crowd went crazy! Girls were a squealin’! It was totally awesome! Then I gave the gift to Chris and he went back to the main stage. I held up the next one. After a minute or so Jesse began to walk down the catwalk, he was singing. He avoided eye contact or even looking my direction. Until he reached the end of the catwalk where I was standing. I was seriously freaking now! Jesse turns towards me. I swear my heart was ready to burst out of my chest! He looked directly into my eyes as he sang “you are” OMG! OMG! I was melting…totally liquefying inside! I handed the gift to Jesse. He reached down to me to take the gift and then he stood straight up but still gazing into my eyes with a smile on his face. TOTAL EYE CONTACT! (And he has gorgeous eyes.) Then I crooked my finger asking him to “come here”. He smiled at me and then he came in for a hug. The crowd roared! It was awesome!! Jesse gives THE BEST hugs ever! Then it was my turn to hold the camcorder. Winter held up the next gift. Matt was next to walk down the catwalk. Oh the smile that crept across Winter’s face as Matt walked towards her. She was all excited. Winter was really nervous as Matt reached for her gift to him. She handed it to him and he gave her a big hug in return! She turned around, did a little jumping thing and squealed “WAHOO”! That was a lot for such a shy girl. Then she chattered “I gave it to Matt. I gave it to Matt”! I think she fell in love about then! LOL.A little later in the show she nervously gave one to Greg. He was busy dancing, singing, and working the crowd. (Like only Greg can do…and ladies you know what I mean). So winter was not able to get her hug from Greg. We have hopes for that some time in the near future Greg will give her that long awaited and desired hug. After Dream Street’s sensational performance. My brain went into such a frenzy that I ended up having an insulin reaction (yes I am diabetic). My reaction caused us to be late getting to the autograph session, but not too late. I met Brian Lukow during the show. I got to talk to him while standing in line for the autographs. Brian is a great guy! But you know that already. He introduced me to Lou Baldonieri and Claudia Swan. Oh I really like Claudia! She is brilliant! I don’t know how she comes up with such phenomenal dance moves, but more power to her!! I got to talk to Claudia a bit. She even showed me some dance moves. She is just awesome!! We finally made it to the autograph table.
**PART 4** There we were standing in front of Greg. He asked my name and then wrote it in the top corner of the poster they were gonna autograph for me. Now, I need to stop and back up just a little bit for my story to flow smoothly. The five of us, Winter, Moroni, Linda, Nathaniel and myself, had been preparing for a talent show. We had by working on our own dance routine to N Sync’s ByeByeBye as we watched the Pokemon 2000 movie special. We all decided we wanted to do “They Don’t Understand” instead. It was fresh and different. Winter designed our costumes…red sequin shirts, black vest with a different pokemon in sequins on the back of each one. Winter had Charizard Moroni had Mew, Linda had Mewtoo, Nathaniel had bulbasaur and I had Meowth. (These are the vests we made for our talent show) The girls had red sequin hearts on the back right pocket. Our jeans were black. With a stripe of red sequins spiraling around one leg ending at the heart on the girls and the pikachu. We had spinning pokeballs on our left knees. The talent show was scheduled for November and this was October 7th. We had a difficult time trying to learn the dance moves. The cameramen zoomed in and out here and there when recording the Pokemon 2000 movie special. We tried our best to piece the dance moves together. Some of the dance moves we could not figure out were some of the ones that Claudia was so nice in helping me to get them going. She must of thought I was crazy when I asked her to show me the “shoulder move”. LOL After seeing Dream Street perform, we found out that there is a whole verse that we had not heard. Matt told me that it was cut out of the TV special. Anyway, Brian offered to take pictures of us with Dream Street. So we ran around to the other side of the table to where the guys sat. They must have been exhausted because they did not stand up. No problem. We got down to their level. We each had our favorite members of the band. Winter thought she liked Jesse the best so I had Brian take a picture of them together. Neither one of them looked too happy in the photo. I thought that was funny. Winter later told me that she liked Matt instead of Jesse. I said great! (Because I have a secret crush on him myself) LOL. Linda and Chris stuck together. They seemed to hit it off from the first. She was so impressed with Chris she gave him her Mewtoo vest. They had their picture taken together. Chris wore the vest backwards. Moroni gave his Mew vest to Greg. We never did get all of their autographs on the poster! Looking at the fan club application I noticed that there would be a Dream Street Fan Club Only concert to be held in New York to be held in December…hmmm…
With a very special THANKS to Mary Rouse for all those many hours we worked together on this article to get it ready for you!
