Toyota

Fucking Toyota: the quintessential frauds of the automotive world. Every model they’ve released for the past decade is blatantly plagiarised from some other car… Let’s start by comparing the brilliantly designed Porsche Boxster, and the ugly as hell new Toyota MR2.

Is it just me, or is there a slight resemblance there?

Hmm, well maybe it’s just the front…

Nope, looks like it’s the rear too.

Okay, how about a different angle…

Mmm, nope they still look peculiarly similar (note positioning of side air intake also).

Want more proof?

How’s that!!!!!!

Try and look past the great looking chick in the right picture, to the ugly piece of crap car behind her.

What an original bunch of fuckers they are over at Toyota, eh?

MR2 link 1 - listen to what he says about the styling of this monstrocity: “this MR2 does not approach the styling excellence of the Miata or Porsche Boxster, with their clean, flowing lines. This one will never reside in an automotive art museum.” In case you’re wondering, “Miata” is what they call the MX-5 in America.

MR2 link 2 - To quote: “The look of the MR2 Spyder is nothing at all like the previous MR2s. As a matter of fact, many people asked whether or not the car was a Porsche Boxster.”

MR2 link 3 - pay attention to the fourth paragraph. To quote: “Coming or going, there is no question that it has a Porsche Boxster look to it. Both are mid-engine sports cars and the MR2 has a large functional side air intake just rear of the doors, as does the Boxster.”

MR2 link 4 - pay attention to the section titled Pretty Ugly, about two thirds the way down the article. To quote a small section: “When Toyota unveiled this car as the MR-S concept at the 1997 Tokyo Motor Show, it looked like a sardine can that had been opened in the middle, and it hasn’t changed a lot since.”

Now, have a look at the new Toyota Tarago.

Notice a similarity?

New Toyota Celica compared to the Pug 206.

Headlights, bumpers, wheels.

This is the Peugeot Asphalte sports concept car, that was debuted in 1996. Asphalte was a front engine, RWD sports car, that ran a 5-speed auto tranny, coupled to a 1.6 Litre, in-line four. It was clearly a spiritual forerunner to the exceptional looks of the 206. Note the eye-catching curved bonnet, accentuating feline headlight “eyes” as on the 206. Also the distinctive flowing lines at the side. Hence to all those people who say Toyota couldn’t have copied the 206, give up on your ridiculous argument.
