BAND HISTORY

The Toast N Jam sound was conceived in July 1998 by Pete Olah, Ed Benner and Mike Moravec. After a year packed full of jamming, writing songs and a few band name changes, the band finally started to solidify.

Jay Bird started to contribute on the drum kit. Ed continued to write on the drums and loop fat beats for us. Mike, who plays guitar, was elected to play those funky bass lines. Pete continued writing on the bass and on the six string.

Right around this time, John Justice (drums for Stud Bull’s Disco Biscuit and Environmental) broke his leg in the pit down at Peabody’s. Jay Bird was asked to fill in for Johnny (Stud Bull’s) on drums. With a full leg cast and nothing better to do, John started checking out our practices. When he got out of the full leg cast into the lower leg cast he started to rehab his drum skills with us. During John’s rehab he started learning our songs.

We all got along well, so we asked him to join the band. This was perfect, because John was looking into doing a two-drummer project, so he willingly accepted. This also captured Jay’s interest and really motivated him to play more. Jay also started to take on some of the vocal duties.

With the addition of John on drums and percussion, we started to put together some more new songs. Using our new creative energy, we brought back a couple of tunes by the folk/funk legends, The Burning Pallets.

The Burning Pallets

Now as a full band, with twelve original songs under our belt, a live show became conceivable. The line up for our first performance was Pete on guitar; Ed ran sound and did vocals, Jay on vocals and drums, Johnny on drums and percussion. The following week was our first public performance live at The Revolution. Mike played bass and sang, at this show. After the revolution show, Steve was taken in on bass and Mike switched back to guitar.

Now that Toast N Jam has a solid lineup, we will continue to strengthen and create our music for your listening pleasure.
