It was more than four years before Metallica recorded a new studio album. But in 1996, Metallica Released their next album, Load. Load was almost a double album, since Metallica spent more than a year in the studio recording over 2 hours of music. But they decided to release half of their songs, and wait another year before releasing the rest.
