28 January, 2000, Chapel On Chapel, Melbourne VIC

BY SHANE BROUGHTON (WEBMASTER)

This was my first Killing Heidi gig and it's by no means my last! This particular gig was special as it was apart of channel seven's "Cold Live at The Chapel" series which I had won tickets to. It was exciting knowing that I'll be able to experience the gig again on TV!

The venue was only small. It held a hundred people at most. So it was good. It was like a private viewing just for me and a few others!

Anyway, the band stepped out and Ella says "We're just gonna do an acoustic song first before we get into the heavy stuff". The song, "Astral Boy". As sweet and tender as it is, this song was great. But the next was better. My personal favorite, "Leave Me Alone". This song rocked the house even though we all had to sit down in our seats!

A few more rockin' songs followed including another favorite of mine "Superman/Supergirl" before they played "Mascara" which had just gone to number one on the charts that Monday for the first time.

"This is a cover from way back" Ella says next and they play silverchair's hit "Tomorrow" acoustic.

I don't remember much more of the songs that were played so I guess I'll be reminded when it comes on TV! "Weir" got a huge round of applause when it was played towards the end of their set. All in all, a spectacular gig. Now it's just a two day wait before my next Killing Heidi concert at the Melbourne Big Day Out on Ella's seventeenth birthday!
