Sander Thoenes

Sander was killed in East Timor on September 22, 1999
His murderers remain unpunished up till this day.

He received the Freedom of Press Award in 2000 from the, Washington based, National press Club (NPC).
That award "Recognizes members of the media who have, through the publishing or broadcasting of news, promoted or helped protect the freedom of the press."
