Jane Ann GARDNER was the elder daughter of James GARDNER (b. 1812, Winlaton, Durham) and his second wife Ann JACKSON. Children by his first wife Leah LAW were Sophia (1835-40), Jesse (1837), Johanna (1838), William (1839), James (1845) and Leah (1843).
James (1812-73) was the son of James GARDNER and Mary RENWICK who were married in 1797, Holy Cross, Ryton, Durham, England. All their children were christened in the St. Thomas Aquinas (RC) Church, Stella, Durham, and include: Mary (1799), Robert (1802), John (1804), Isobel (1806), Thomas (1808), James (1812), William (1814) & Joseph (1817).
