Ram's Head Live

It's interesting that I saw Senses Fail & Saosin on the 2006 Warped Tour, on the same bill...well, actually, I saw Senses Fail, but missed Saosin, but I ran into them backstage at Warped & I saw the band prior to that opening for Avenged Sevenfold, & the last time I saw them, they just didn't quite impress me for some reason..it might be, because when I saw them last, it was Halloween night & the entire band was dressed in costumes & it was kinda hard to take them seriously!

I'll get more into the Saosin set in just a minute, but I want to mention that opening band, The Sleeping were okay, & Alexisonfire were insane, but I didn't quite get the singers choice in cut off jean shorts..it had that total white trash element that was so trashy that it was funny!

Ok, now back to Saosin....the bands set was nearly an hour, & it was full on from beginning to end! Their singer was sporting a bandana ala Axl Rose & I couldn't help but wonder if it was an ode to the GNR that once was, but musically, the band played a mix of hard rock & emo core that was touching & harsh, but maintained a level of melody that makes Saosin a truly distinct band in their genre!

I might add too, that I saw more kids sporting Saosin shirts & buying more Saosin merch than any of the other bands, which really speaks volumes about the bands popularity since signing to a major label.

Senses Fail were the nights headliners & they played a full set that was a little over an hour, & singer Buddy is like a raging bull on that stage...he's jumping, spitting, running, & I will admit that trying to take pics of him was kinda difficult at times, because he doesn't slow down! It was quite beautiful to hear the crowd sing certain song lyrics at different times, & Senses Fail has really come a long way since their first cd...they actually have some guitar solo's, their songs have gotten more intricate, & the most touching moment of their set was when they dedicated the show to the men overseas fighting for our country & they had a soldier who had just came back from Iraq on the side of the stage. I was actually really surprised that the show was sold out too...it goes to show that even with no radio support, you can still sell out shows & have a good fan base that will come & see you play, but the night clearly was about Saosin, who may have been co-headliners on the bill, but they were the highlight of the night, & both Saosin & Senses Fail will be on the Taste of Chaos tour in a few weeks!
