When a band is down to one or 2 original members, it starts to get lame...I'm not referring to every band up there, but I think you might know which one's I'm referring to lol

I don't want to waste anymore of your valuable time...so thanks for hitting our site & enjoy!

REVIEWS

FIVE POINTE O

Untitled

Track Listing: Double X Minus, King of the Hill, Art of Cope, Purity Oil, Freedom?, Sympathetic Climate Control, Untitled, Syndrome Down, Breathe Machine, The Infinity, Aspire Inspire

I will go out on a limb right here & right now & say....I love this CD, it makes me really glad to hear that a band can still make music that has dynamics in it, while still remaining heavy! The band that I would compare them to the most would be Faith No More because of their diverse musical tastes & fills. "Double X Minus" is heavy, but has a very melodic sense to it, while "King of the Hill" has a definitive crunch to it's mud stomping guitar riffs! "Purity o1" has a very distinct mid-eastern feel to it that probably has some roots in Beatles music, while "Sympathetic Climate Control" is pretty mellow. The CD closer "Aspire, Inspire" is nothing more than musical noises cut & pieced together to make beautiful moods & settings. I hope this band gets the proper recognition that they deserve, because with the trendy, counter-culture of today, I would be really heartbroken to see this band not get the proper attention that they so deserve!

MOODROOM

Hung Up On Breathing
Track Listing: Loving, Open Minded, Connection, Safe In The SOund, Declined, Morning Alarm, Vibes, e-Song, Vivid Blury, Conversation, Gone, Clear, Soft Distortion, Searching, Blue Skies & All That

Poppy, fluffy, but not simplistic...that's how I would describe Moodroom's debut CD. This female fronted act rocks, but they don't neccesarily take it to an extremely heavy point, it's just fun, jovial music that you can dance to, or you can listen to with conviction & not feel like a simpleton. I made that point, because sometimes, there are bands, which will remain nameless, that release music that is totally disposable & lackluster, but that is not the case here. "E-Song", ""Declined" & "Searching" are all songs that could easily be singles & get alot of air play, atleast in my personal opinion, but a band like Moodroom is easy to overlook if you don't dig a little deeper....the song writing is very good!

FATHER GOTHIC
Promises

This track, "Promises" is at times funky, slow, & has a decent guitar solo, but has a totally laid back feel to it. Father Gothic aka Rich Pierce, as you may or may not know, is the father of the little boy from the Marilyn Manson "Lunchbox" video....he's actually a very talented guy & has some cool stuff available for free download on mp3 at www.mp3.com/FatherGothic

QUEEN OF THE DAMNED

Soundtrack
Track Listing: Not Meant For Me - Featuring Wayne Static, Foresaken - Featuring David Draiman, System - Featuring Chester Bennington, Change - Deftones, Redeemer - Marilyn Manson, Dead Cell - Papa Roach, Penetrate - Godhead, Slept So Long - Jay Gordon, Down With The Sickness - Disturbed, Cold - Static X, Headstrong - Ear Shot, Body Crumbles - Dry Cell, Excess - Tricky, Before I'm Dead - Kidney Thieves

Before you can even think it, yes, this is the soundtrack that was put together by Jonathan Davis, Korn frontman, & unfortunately, due to record company policies & legal thingies, He could NOT sing on the CD, so he did the next best thing...he got a who's who of current rock singers to fill in...the result is the latter collaberation with artists like Marilyn Manson, Chester from Linkin Park, & Dave from Disturbed to name a few. The Marilyn Manson track "Redeemer" is okay...it's actually a very watered down sounding track...I was expecting a little more musically, but the vocals by Manson are right on & very raw! "System" is a good song with Chester from L.P. on vocals...after listening to this song, I realized just how punishing & beautiful his voice is. The music that Jonathan Davis made for this soundtrack is very....well, look, I can tell a lie, or be truthful...the music is cheesy - techno - metal with a goth feeling....it will never be as popular as Korn music...it's primarily for the die hard fans of Jonathan Davis who want to hear what he is capable of...I'm not knocking his abilities, I'm just stating my honest opinion. The most interesting track on this CD to me personally is the Earshot song "Headstrong" which is a good rock song that has a Filter feel to it, but has way better vocals & is very heavy! I like to hear new bands & new music, & this band intrigues me. The established tracks on this CD are all pretty well known, so I will just pan over the Deftones, Godhead, Disturbed, & Static X songs...they all rock, but if you have their respective CD's, you know those songs already & there is no need to kill time talking about them again lol. The Kidney Thieves song is good too, but I am more intrigued by that bands name than their music. Overall, I could set here & say that the soundtrack isn't good, but guess what, I actually do like it & think it was put together very well.

SAMHAIN

Live 85/86
Track Listing: '85 NYC - All Hell, Samhain, The SHift, The Howl, Unholy Passion, All Murder All Guts All Fun, I am Misery, The Hungry End, Horror Biz, He Who Can Not Be Named, '86 Chicago; Black Dream, Death Comes Ripping, Mother of Mercy, To Walk The Night, Halloween 2, In My Grip, London Dungeon, Archangel

Glenn Danzig & Eerie Von, 2 fourths of what would later become Danzig, re-release their final re-issue, which is a live CD compiled from 2 different shows & 2 different line-ups of Samhain, both of which are almost identical. Glenn Danzig put together Samhain, which honestly, is so similiar to the Misfits that it's scary. "Horror Biz" is my personal favorite track on the disc, but "London Dungeon", "The Howl" & "Halloween 2" all rip. Samhain were a very tight sounding live band that, at least to me, seemed to focus more on the show than the music. Don't get me wrong, I like the band, but it was all very punk based music, which, to me, refers to limited musical influences, & very aggressive music that's based more on attitud or modd than musical abilities....like a prior review I did, I am not slamming Samhain, I like what they do/did, I enjoy loads of different types of bands, infact, I would advise anyone reading this to go out & pick up this CD...it's rocks! The simplicity of the music is what makes kids want to pick up guitars/basses & drums & play...it's loud, fast, & angry music!

THE APEX THEORY

Track Listing: Add Mission, Mucus Shifter, Come Forth, Shhh...(Hope Diggy), Drown Ink, Bullshed, That's All, Bravo, Apossibly, Right Foot, Aisle Always, In Books

I like this band...they have alot of turns & hooks that keep me guessing if they will rock, or get serious on you...."Add Mission" is edgy & aggressive, while "Come Forth" has a very alternative sound to it. "Shh...(Hope Diggy)" reminds me sooo much of Incubus, it has a very progessive feel to it & is distinctly original. "That's All" reminds me of the Police during their Synchronicity era with a very polished feel, while "Bravo" has a very big guitar sound to it. "In Books" is my personal favorite...it is totally aggressive, hooky, but has a very different sound & feel than alot of music that's out there today, which is what I like. If you enjoy a very original, distinct, fun rock band, then you'll love this band!

MEGADETH

Killing is My Business & Business is Good
Track Listing: Last Rites/Loved To Death, Killing is my Business, The Skull Beneath the Skin, Rattlehead, Chosen Ones, Looking Down the Cross, Mechanix, These Boots, Last Rites/Loved to Death (demo), Mechanix (demo), Skul Beneath the Skin (demo)

I actually remember getting this cassette such a long time ago, & I never imagined that I would get an opportunity to review it sooo many years later, but life has a way of being stranger than fiction, & here it is, 2002 & I get to review the re-issue of one of Heavy Metal's most influencial CD's.....the introduction of the sonic bombast that is Megadeth to a very sheepish public. The newly re-mastered sound on this CD is good, but as a fan of early thrash metal, I don't even care about the sound, I was just excited to hear the 3 bonus demo tracks on this CD, which are pretty much the same as the final versions, minus their coarse sound. I was alway intrigued that "The Mechanix" was put on this CD since it's the same as "The Four Horseman" by Metallica, but it is a Mustaine riff, so I'm not gonna get too over-involved on that debate lol. "These Boots", the Nancy Sinatra cover, sounds very elegant for a thrash metal epic, & "K.I.M.B." is as brutal now as it was back in the day. Sometimes it urks me as a fan or heavy music to see bands re-issue their entire catalog with rare bonus cuts, because lets face it, it's done as a ploy to get the fans to re-purchase stuff that they already have for a few bonus cuts or re-mastered sound, but in the case of this CD, I am glad that they re-issued it...this is a must have for fans of the band & heavy music!

36 CRAZYFISTS

Bitterness the Star

Track Listing: Turns To Ashes< One More Word, An Agreement Called Forever, Eightminutesupsidedown, Slit Writs Theory, Bury Me Where I Fall, Dislocate, Two Months From A Year, Chalk White, All I Am, Ceramic, Circle The Drain, Left Hand Charity

Let me start off by saying, HOLY CRAP! This CD grabs you by the jugular & shakes you at every quakening pulse....this band is brutal! Ironically though, the vocals range from decent signing for a metal song, to ravenous screams! The guitar work is sonic in that is has good tone & smack the hell out of your ear! "Two Months From Year" starts out slow, but it dominates the listeners ear with a smashing assault of your mind & ears! "Turns To Ash" is just plain ugly, but in a sic, beautiful way, & "An Agreement Called Forever" is what Slipknot would sound like if they had some melody & a little more emotion as opposed to just pure hate. I have to warn you though, there are alot of F-Bombs dropped on this CD! I think this band has a bright future, because musically, they are really good & the song writing is totally there!
