ROCK N ROLL EXPERIENCE - Bobaflex - 7/6/07

BOBAFLEX

July 6, 2007

Rams Head Live

Baltimore, Maryland

Bobaflex are a really unique band...they've toured on the Gigantour with Megadeth, toured with Twiztid, & they have played infront of huge crowds, but the band itself is the most low key, down to earth guys you will ever meet! They have some interesting hairstyles, play crazy rock music, & you definitley have to see the band live, because all of the guys in the band, except for the drummer, switch instruments, & take turns on lead vocals!

On a Friday night in Baltimore, the scene is usually set for a party, & on this particular night, there was a cover band playing a free show outside, while inside Ram's Head Live, the stage was set for Bobaflex & local boys Lennex, who's singer was on Rockstar Supernova in 2006, but was sent home after only a few weeks. There was actually an opening band this night, but I didn't really see all of their set, so it's not fair to give a review based on a partial show..what I saw was ok though & I'll admit that I was only at this show to see the mighty Bobaflex!

The Bobaflex guys were walking around the crowd before & after their set, & the sad thing was, this show was not really promoted, if at all, so the crowd turn out was really low...there was about 100 people there at best, BUT, for what it's worth, Bobaflex rocked it like there was 10,000!

Bobaflex played about an hour long set that concluded with a Jackson 5 cover, & I kid you not, the band sounded great on it & their bass player has a pretty high freakin' voice too! After their set, the band went backstage for about a minute & then were right back out in the crowd, hanging out, talking to people, drinking, & enjoying themselves! I asked all the guys at different times what it was like touring with Megadeth & every member said the same thing, that it was amazing & that Dave Mustaine treated them great! After Lennex finished their set, the crowd was ushered out & all the Bobaflex guys & the remaining crowd went over to the adjoining bar/pub & hung out till close to 2 AM! I commented to the bands lead singer that his white studded belt was not metal, & he came back with a comment that it was pertaining more to Motley Crue & WASP & that it wasn't a metal statement...I have to tell you, he was drunk, so I just jokingly went along with him as he was going on about WASP & old school metal. The Bobaflex guys are as intense offstage as they are onstage, & they have a new cd coming out sometime this year.... the new songs that they played off of it were amazing, heavy & frantic, so when Bobaflex plays your area, you've definitley gotta check these guys out..they rock!
