ROCK N ROLL EXPERIENCE - 2007

BLUE COLLAR / BREAKING BENJAMIN

March 22, 2007

Rams Head Live

Baltimore, Maryland

Interesting footnote to this review...Breaking Benjamin were supposed to play this area (Maryland) back in Winter of 2006 with Godsmack, but the band dropped off the tour, prior to playing here, & I had heard from ALOT of their fans that they were bummed that the band wasn't on the bill & that another band was added last minute, so when Breaking Benjamin booked a headlining tour, the show sold out rather fast here in Maryland, & although the band put on a great show, I was there for another reason...I had heard the opening band, Blue Collar from PA & I was immediatley interested, because the band is a power/punk unit that has the enrgy of Blink 182 without the goofiness!

Musically, the band is modern punk that's loud, fast, & very fun! I heard some people in the crowd saying that the band didn't fit the bill since they were different, musically, than Breaking Benjamin, but to be totally honest with you, I had a blast watching their strong & way to short set!

I enjoyed watching the bands guitarist flip his guitar around his back, just like fellow PA rocker's Cinderella did oh so many years ago, & I might add that the band has a killer rhythm section that really holds things together! Honestly, Blue Collar would fit perfectly on the Warped Tour, & I wouldn't be surprised to see these guys signed to a major label in the very near future, because they have everything together & are definitley well worth checking out!

After Blue Collar finished up, MD rockers Shaft played a short set, but I kinda got distracted & didn't see much of their set, so I can't offer a full review, but I can say that what I saw was definitley good!

Breaking Benjamin were the nights headliner's & they played all their radio hits, & even a Depeche Mode cover! The crowd seemed to really dig what they saw & the band came out to meet the fans after the show, outside near the bands bus! As if it wasn't obvious though, I went to this show to see Blue Collar, & I went home satisfied, because when you do what I do, it's really interesting & fun to spot raw talent & to see it in the infact form while it's on it's way up! Remember the name Blue Collar, because I am pretty sure you'll see & hear from them again!
