Mark Allen Hoppus:Born March 15th 1972. Mark grew up in Ridgecrest,California.His parents divorced when he was 8,and he moved to Washington,D.C. Mark lived with his father Tex.Anne Hoppus lived with their mom. Mark's main love was music and his father bought him a bass guitar and an amp. The bass guitar and amp was given as gift for painting a house for his father. Mark started a garage band,and all the kids in the neighborhood would stop by to listen.After high school,he returned to CA.Where he went to a university college for a couple of years.In 1991 he decided to be a high school English teacher,and went to CSSM. Hoppus met DeLonge the second day that he was in town and knew that he had found a kindred spirit. Mark if you were an english teacher this would suck.There would be no Blink-182. I'm kind of glad your not an english teacher.The thought of Mark as a english teacher scares me. This is really frightening the hell out of me.
Tom's Bio:
Tom DeLonge:Born Dec.13,1975 grew up near San Diego and started skateboarding in the third grade.It was all he thought about. Until a close friend in Oregon got him interested in music.The friend taught him how to play the guitar,at a christian religious camp Tom went to. He picked up a guitar and started playing and he could not put it down.Hoppus and DeLonge began writting songs and playing together as Blink,and were joined a month later by a friend of DeLonge's. Mark met Tom through one of Tom's friends.Mark's sister Anne dated one of Tom's friends ,she brought them both together. The band's main goal was to play in public.Their major gigs were playing at local high schools.
When the three found out that there was another band named Blink,they knew they had to modify their name.Mark made jokes on what to name the band.Blink JR.Then he came up with Blink 182,he stated'I pulled that number out of my ass at random.' They came up with the name Blink-182 which was chosen at random by Mark.The band recorded a demo. They played at tiny San Deigo clubs which got the interest of Cargo Records. Which in 1995 put out the album "Cheshire Cat". This album was recorded in three days. When Blink 182 signed with MCA.DeLonge quit his job as a diesel truck driver.He stated later I was one of those people who hated,hated,hated my job.1997's Dude Ranch was a big step forward.Thanks to the song "Dammit" on the Dude Ranch album.The hit song made the album go Platinum. Thanks Tom,you really inspire kids to go for their dreams. Unfortunately not during their highschool years though. Tom decided to drink one night and go to a basketball game.His friend decided to fall on his face in front of school officals.Tom was suspented from school for a year.Missing his junior year of highschool. Some kid later is probably going to be inspired to pull this off.You cause complete and utter chaos. You probably would like to make everyone's life completely miserable.Satan you've done your evil deeds to everyone.I'm just messing with you. Someone better take your worst experiences as a inspiration to keep from making the same mistakes. Tom believes every kid should have goals,don't drink or you'll end up just like Tom. You'll be really lazy,moody,stoned and have a beer belly like Tom. Just kidding with you Tom!
Travis Bio:
Travis Landon Barker:Born Nov 14,1975,Travis grew up in Fontana,CA.It's a high crime society neighboorhood.Travis now lives in Riverside,Ca.He moved.He lives in Corona,CA.With his wife Melissa Kennedy Barker. His dad is Randy,a machinist,and his mom Gloria, a housewife who baby-sat local kids.Travis joined the band by auditioning for them,when Scott Raynor left to go back to college.Out of 150 guys Travis was the only one who could play the drums,he passed the audition. Mark and Tom knew he was part of the band since day one.
Travis started playing the drums at the age of four. Travis's mother Gloria was his inspiration to keep playing the drums.She told him to"Keep going for your dreams and to never to give up".That's why Travis kept on doing it.The death of his mother Gloria,was the inspiration to keep playing the drums.His dad wanted him to have a normal job,working 50 hours a week. Travis didn't want to have any desk job,he wanted to be a professional drummer for a band.Travis was also in another band which he doesn't really like to mention.The Aquabats,a band that hardly ever had any gig,they never really rehearsed any songs together. Travis left the band because he wanted to perform for live shows,he wanted to take his skills to the next level.Travis wanted to be in a band that cared about performing and doing live shows.He wanted to perform for fans,by showing his skills for public audiences.Travis didn't want to stay in a garage punk band that was never going to be heard of. Travis wanted to be in a famous band. Now you know why he joined Blink 182.Travis is sweet and a mannered guy,he does not like to be bothered by people he doesn't know.Why,you wonder?.According to Travis,he's easily irritated by people he don't know.My advice would be to not bug him and leave him alone. Travis talks to the band and his girlfriend.
He now lives with his wife now and he's never seperated from her.'She doesn't get on my nerves.'They fight sometimes,he throws soap.Well he says"She's a pusher,and I have the smallest temper ever." And then need to break something,so I throw soap.Or,like if she's in the shower.'I'll throw ice cubes over the door or turn on the freezing cold water when she's not looking.'Travis hears another idea flush the toilet when she's running hot water in the shower.
A random question that was asked to Travis in Teen Mag."What's your idea of complete happiness or complete misery?"Travis said"Misery is flying in an airplane. I hate flying more than anything in this whole world. I'd rather be shot in the head than die on an airplane.When I'm on planes,I talk to God alot. I'm starting to think he's getting pissed off because that's only time I talk to him.Travis why the hell are you afraid of airplanes? "You have been in airplanes ever since you joined the band.You should be use to airplanes by now. I know how you feel about airplanes,they are too dangerous.It's the most common cause of death.The star dazzled for the"i".This suggest Travis is someone who has had stars in their eyes.Travis says'That's pretty on the ball.From the third or fourth grade I wanted to be a professional drummer.I wouldn't say I wanted to be a rock star and be Montley Crue and be crazy and drink all the time and be a moron. But I wanted it to be my job.My parents would say 'You need something to fall back on,'but I wouldn't listen.I love the way Travis makes his "i",into a star. I love stars on my "i's" too. Travis stated "I think it's pretty looking,the star represents what I want to be in life.I think it's important to find your own space in life." I believe that Travis found a perfect band to work with. Travis wishes to be like Tommy Lee of Motley Crue. You damn loser,your not Tommy Lee,you wish. I'm only kidding with Travis because I don't know why he would want to be like Tommy Lee. That guy use to do drugs and kind of treats women like crap. But however Tommy Lee is a great father to his children.Eventhough now Tommy Lee treats women more like how they should be treated. He respects people now. Travis Barker wants to just be known for his drumming skills.He does not want to be the guy to make jokes like Mark and Tom do at their shows. Travis loves laughing at the guys but feels no need to join in on their jokes and pranks. Hey,why not Travis? I think if you joined in that would be very humerous, why not? Do whatever Travis,I don't care what but make it great.
