League File
Basically, a league Commissioner maintains a "master" league file, and simulates all of the game activity on his or her computer. The Commissioner keeps the league database updated by uploading team files generated by league participants. Team files contain roster moves, lineup and depth chart changes, and other team information.
While roster management and web maintenance is automated in Out of the Park Baseball, drafts, trades and free agency are conducted according to the league's rules and are to the discretion of the league commissioner. Online leagues typically approach these in a number of different (and often very unique) ways, from ranked lists for drafts to online auctions for free agents and peer-to-peer communications for player trades. Consult the league's rules for more information.
Here are the basic procedures for synchronizing your files and roster moves with the master database when playing as a participant (non-commissioner) in an online league:
Create a folder for your new league in the main Out of the Park Baseball program folder; make sure the folder includes the .lg extension, so that the game can properly identity the folder as a league file folder
Create three sub-folders within the folder you just created, and name these NEWS, BOX and EXPIMP, respectively
Download the latest league file from your league's internet site, or ask the commissioner to email the files to you
Unzip the downloaded league file into the .lg folder you created
Open Out of the Park Baseball and load the league
Make your roster moves, promote/demote minor leaguers, set your lineups and pitching roles, set your depth charts and adjust your managerial tendencies
Go to the Setup screen from the team menu, and click Export Team. This will create a file with a .exp extension, which can be mailed as an attachment to the league commissioner. Note that if you have FTP properly configured, you can automatically transmit your team file from within the game by clicking Export Team to FTP.
