Historic Events
- In March 1959 - I.W.A. Strike, which claimed the life of Constable William Moss of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary.
- In June 1999, a major forest fire threatened the town which eventually caused an evacuation of the residents for four days.
- Major flooding of the surrounding Exploits, Red Indian and Badger rivers have occured frequently over the past 30 years.
Some major floods have occured in the years 1977, 1983. 1991 and 2000.
Sporting Events/Memories
- Frank Card(retired post-master) - was one of the best long distance runners that Newfoundland has produced.
- Joe Foley - Canadian Forces top boxer for a period of time.
- Michelle Critch - 2 time provincial female athlete of the year for her sport of Karate.
- Herder Memorial Cup Champs of 91-92 hockey season. Badger was the smallest community ever to win the Herder Trophy.
