Most beloved, greetings in the name of Jesus Christ.

I started using drugs at a very young age, becoming a slave to it within a short time. Before I was 20, I was a full blown addict. My innocence, my youth, my freedom and my humanism was lost. I started to hate everyone and everything around me. I lost my senses of nationality and began to live like an animal. The street became my home. I tried to quit one drug but got on to another and finally ended up using 5 different kinds of drugs.

Unable to control my consumption of drugs, I started to rob to support my habit. I always wondered why I had become what I had become, but couldn't find an answer. Ultimately I reached a state of total spiritual bankruptcy where I was willing to even sell my blood to get money to use drugs. Everybody ejected me, I used to walk the streets in the night singing songs I learnt as a child in the Church and I cried till I could cry no more. My whole body was covered with sores. I used to stink so badly that flies would swarm around me.

One night as I lay on a bench in a railway station feeling utterly lost, I tried to pray, but words failed me. Getting up I fell on my knees and I cried my heart out. From that day onwards I have felt some power from above had taken over my life. The most wonderful thing started to happen to me. The obsession for drugs had been lifted. People who rejected me are now my friends.

Sometimes I feel so happy that I laugh till I can laugh no more. I still do cry at times but cry with tears of joy. The only answer I can find is Jesus Christ.

At present I work in a rehab Center for the treatment and recovery for drug addiction and alcoholism. I hope to become a counselor. I do face a lot of trouble, most of them psychological. But one verse Jesus said always comes to my mind. Blessed are the peace makers, for they shall become the sons of God. I give all glory and honor to my God my guide and best friend - the Lord Jesus Christ.
