'The kingdom of God is at hand', - words spoken many centuries ago; does it have any significance, or even any relevance for us today? Was Jesus speaking of time, and of being at hand, from God's point of view? After-all, to God, time, and a mortals life-span, was just a fraction of a second compared with God's eternity.
So, was God's kingdom never to come while time existed? Then what about the prayer that Jesus thought us, 'Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven'. Had Jesus forgotten that He was in mortal clothing, or was it simply that He didn't know what He was speaking at that point of time. I could hardly think so! Jesus knew what He was talking about. For, if God's will is to be done on earth as in Heaven, He has to be the king over the earth, as He is in Heaven. When He is king, what He is king of, is His kingdom; and the only way He can be the king, is when His subjects, that is us, acknowledge Him as King. The only way to acknowledge God as King, is to give Him lordship, and the number 1 priority in our lives; and then we will not pray, 'Thy kingdom come', but also see that it actually does come.
So, where does God's kingdom come? - well, without any second thought or sprinkling of a doubt, - directly into our hearts; that's where it begins. And the only way God can establish His Kingdom in and through us is when we have, and long for, a deep relationship with Jesus, in whom the fullness of our lives will definitely overflow its brim.
Therefore, as Jesus said in Mattehw 6:33, 'Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you'.
