The Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef region stretches over 2000 kilometres along the coast of Queensland, from just north of Fraser Island in the south (latitude 24 degrees 30 minutes South) to beyond Cape York in the North. It covers and area of about 350,000 square kilometres on the continental shelf of Australia. Aside from the coral, the Reef is probably best -known for its variety of fish. Over 1500 species. The range of sizes, shapes and colors combine with the beauty of the coral itself to make the Great Barrier Reef on of the world's natural wonders.
