Pocket PC

     The Pocket PC OS is Microsoft’s handheld OS. Years ago Pocket PC was called Windows CE. Windows CE was the first Handheld OS by Microsoft. Windows CE was basically a clone of the early Palm OS with a new graphical interface and a few Microsoft Windows based programs. Eventually Windows CE became Pocket PC OS after it gained the more "windows" look as well as became more multimedia friendly. In pocket PC 2002 The changes really are GUI based as well as more multimedia support. Also the better connectivity with windows XP is a plus. The multimedia support was at first MP3 support which was all the craze when Pocket PC os was released. With 2002 Media Player supports movies and streaming video via network or internet connection. The only other notable items that Pocket PC 2002 offers is the different writing options such as the onscreen keyboard ,Letter recognizer ,block recognizer, and transcriber. Now users have many ways to enter notes or text. Lastly a version of MSN Messenger was added to Pocket PC 2002. With all the multimedia support as well as pocket word and excel Pocket PC 2002 is the closest you can get to having windows in your hand.

Pocket Linux

     Brand new to the PDA world is Pocket Linux. Little is known by many people about Pocket Linux because its so new. Sharp is the first company to embrace the new and first open source PDA OS. Sharp is trying to push software manufactures to make applications for this baby of an OS. This OS will be caching steam latter this year as the new IBM processor based PDAs come out from various manufacturers supporting Pocket Linux

 

Palm

     Palm is the father of the PDA OS. Palm OS has a lot of support from Handspring because they use the Palm OS on all of there devices. Palm is most known or there own use of there own OS. The Palm OS has about 70% more applications available for it than Microsoft’s Pocket PC. If you are looking for a PDA with great organization features a Palm OS PDA will be your best bet.
